Voter Registration Form Information

The law (20 USC 1094 (a)(23)(A)) requires institutions to make a good faith effort to distribute voter registration forms to each student in attendance. The voter registration forms must be made widely available to each student enrolled in a degree or certificate program an physically in attendance at the institution.  An institution shall be considered in compliance with the requirements of the law for each student to whom the institution electronically transmits a message containing a voter registration form acceptable for use in the State or an internet address where such a form can be downloaded, if this information is in an electronic message devoted exclusively to voter registration. 

In Tennessee, the last day to register to vote before the general elections on November 6 is October 8, 2012.  The voter registration form and information about registration requirements can be found at the Tennessee Secretary of State’s web site (www.tn.gov/sos/elections )
